We’ve had several key initiatives in the works for quite a while now and are now very close to launching them! 2017 is on baby! It’s time to share them with you and get your initial feedback!

We’re building a new studio and office and plan to move in by the end of December and start producing sessions by February. Key benefits include a greatly improved workflow, 4K video production, enhanced acoustics and sound reinforcement, and tracking room improvements that allow us to more easily film ensemble productions like In The Jam. Learning Paths take students from zero to sixty, across five styles. Students plug in wherever their current level of play dictates. While the beginner courses are all new productions, all of the “core” courses from the intermediate level and beyond are compilations of existing lessons, from existing courses. Educators earn incremental pro-rated shares of revenue from those compilation courses. We’re also showcasing educator’s existing courses as “supplementary courses” to help generate more incremental revenue. Workshops are being completely overhauled. Based on student history and feedback, the original 8-week workshops were too expensive, and put too much time and performance pressure on the student. The new course workshops will be offered as a premium upgrade to any course (provided the educator is willing). They will be priced more affordably and include immediate download of the course, an exclusive study guide, lifetime access to an online suite of exclusive workshop tools, and one private lesson with the educator. For those of you that had shied away from the classroom and the old workshop programs because you felt they required too much effort on the front-end and too much time commitment managing them once they were up, these new workshop programs may very well be an ideal solution for you.

Foundry Courses will feature independently produced courses (produced in the educator’s own studio). While we’ll be maintaining TrueFire standards for quality of content shot in our own studio, we’ll also be providing parameters for how a Foundry course should be organized, presented, and compiled (such as other assets to be included like tab, notation, jam tracks, etc). We will ingest that content, TrueFire-ize it into our various desktop and mobile formats, and promote the Foundry courses alongside all of our other courses. The main objective here is to give educators an open marketplace for content that they are able to produce on their own, leveraging the promotional influence of TrueFire’s community of students and social networks.

Artist Channels will also be introduced shortly. Artists and Educators will be able to create their own branded channel on TrueFire. An Artist Channel can feature educational content, promotional content, and anything else related to the artist’s various musical and educational endeavors. Channels will offer both free and paid subscriptions at the artist’s own discretion. The channel building toolset is super simple, and the promotional and revenue-generating applications are unlimited.

Private Lessons with participating TrueFire educators will be offered to students without requiring them to enroll in a classroom or workshop. Students will be able to buy single lessons, or multiple lessons in a pack, which they can use whenever they like, with participating educators. Online private lessons are becoming more and more popular in the marketplace. TrueFire’s “shifted-time” version of a private lesson has already been established and has been very well received in the classrooms.

Classrooms are remaining pretty much intact until we assess how these other options impact the classroom proposition. As you may know, we have recently upgraded many of the features and tools on the platform. Students desiring an ongoing relationship with a single educator will still find the classroom option the most practical, and the most affordable.

Our core strategy for all of these new initiatives is to provide students with a wide variety of options, at a variety of price points. At the same time, we’re also providing educators with a wide range of options, price points, time commitments, and responsibilities to choose from so that you can craft the ideal solution for yourself. TrueFire artists and educators can choose one, none, or all of these new initiatives to work with. Want to get involved or give feedback? Head on over here!
